Apple Crumble

Apple crumble, apple crisp, apple cobbler.  Pure deliciousness no matter what you call it.

Last year Amanda and Karen discussed a dessert that can be served anytime of day.   This year their teen daughters step it up a notch and create a step by step video.  Podcast, video and printout recipe are all right here for you.

Call your kids to help, grab an apron and make your own apple crumble.  Everyone will thank you.

Ingredients
Topping:
  • 1 ¼ cups certified GF oats
  • ¾ cup amaranth flour (sub other GF flour)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • extra butter for greasing baking dish
Base:
  • 8-10 medium size apples Granny Smith
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • extra butter for greasing pan
Instructions
Topping
  1. Mix oats, flour, sugar, salt and cinnamon in a medium size bowl.

  2. Add vanilla and butter.  Mix until crumbly. Set aside.

  3. Base

  4. Peel, core, and quarter apples.  

  5. Combine apples, cinnamon and sugar in a greased baking dish.  Mix well.  

  6. Spread oat mixture over apples. Pat down carefully.  

  7. Bake at 190° for 40-60 minutes.  Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
